Another idea, holographic devices that you can place to hide tunnel entrances or anything else you can think of. (Tunnels are all i can think of that these would be used for) When they are placed at a tunnel entrance on an asteroid, it would create a hologram making the opening invisible to everyone except the player. The player would see a transparent hologram with a static texture. Possibly being able to enable a feature that gives the parent player's view of the hologram to everyone on your friend list, in your faction, or just whoever you decide to add to it. Anyone else would see nothing but the asteroid and no tunnel, shooting the hologram would have no effect to it, anything shot at it would just go through.
Solar winds could interfere with the hologram devices causing a hologram that looks like what you would see on a monitor with a magnet held against it; all players would be able to see this. Shooting the device itself, which is projecting the hologram, would interfere with the hologram the same way as solar winds do, only permanent (Until repair) and if you damage it far enough, it will be destroyed.

great concept, but i think holograms are a bit to sci-fi for the game as i understand it, the developers are trying to keep it grounded in current tech, and while holograms are feasable they would be incredibly expensive to make, i think maybe a sheet someone could put over the entrance would make more sense, certainly cheaper.

Holograms are modern...If you haven't realized, we already have holograms, and as for cost, I'm pretty sure if space ships are affordable, a little hologram projector would be nothing. Your acting like it's still 1960...

i like the idea, what about having it do that the textures dont match perfectly so that others could pick it.
this could add for many really good traps. As the way i think of this is putting 4 small devices on the sides so they kinda match up and for it. kinda like a square area, the more expensive the holigram device the better the coverage

guinea, i think you must be thinking of halo type holograms. Those are expensive. They also do alot more than is pratical in this game. Hologram for traps is just a waste of money. Most use holograms in this game can do is visual effect. Thats about it.

They would be used to hide sections of a base you don't want to be found,or a base entirely. (Done by only having one entrance to the base or atleast just a small amount of entrances)
EDIT: I see that the developers have already added this anyway, not sure if it is because of this thread or not though.
P.S. Shouldn't this get me a medal? I don't remember seeing this before making this post, even if you devs completely ignored this thread and thought of it on your own,I should still get some credit, right? XD

what would the hologram show, could we customize it? Add like an emblem to the holograms or some text?
A tracking device would be cheaper no? and it would be more feasable to make friends only see it. It could show up on radar and not give out anything visual. this might however be less useful and cool looking then a hologram
