Throwing 'em out.

Items -

Reverse engines - Engines mounted facing opposite your normal engines. Make you suddenly move backwards at quick speed.

Drill bot - Small bot deployed by player, mines in the direction the player is facing at the time of deployment until it does not contact any rock or minerals for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds of non contact, it self destructs.

Poison/Corrosive Gas - A ship damageing gas. When deployed, it spews from behind the deployer for a few seconds, and then lingers in the area for thirty seconds or a few minutes. By spew i mean like, a line of gas behind the player as he moves.

Minelayer bot - Small bot deployed by player, deploys mines behind it, going in the direction player was facing at deployment, for a few seconds, before self destructing after laying several explosive mines.

Quantum Teleporter (Like in Motherload)- For quick escapes, teleports you to a random spot within a radius of 5 km. It can send you out of the teleportation at a very fast speed, sometimes into a piece of debris or asteroid...

Indestructable Rock Spray - When sprayed on a rock or mineral, makes it completely immune to any weapons and equipment for a few minutes.

Sensor - Set it at the entrance of a tunnel system, and it notifies you whenever a friendly or enemy passes nearby it. Very small, and undetectable by radar.

Tether - When used, tethers you or an allies' ship to a nearby piece of debris or asteroid, making you not be blown away by solar wind or other forceful events.

Forgive me if any of these ideas were already suggested.

I really like the tether idea. It would really be a lot of fun if it worked like the tethering in the game Just Cause 2.

Before someone comes by and trys to link the Disposable Items thread to this thread, I'd like to state that the way you use these items is are very cool. I especially like:
QUOTE: Tether - When used, tethers you or an allies' ship to a nearby piece of debris or asteroid, making you not be blown away by solar wind or other forceful events.

It would be awesome if you could sneak teather someone to a rocket and blast them away, might be good for multiple player flinging astroids into other player's areas.

However the first Idea is somewhat like my afterburner idea, where could redirect the afterburner or have extra burners on other parts of your ship. And a combination of the idea I was talking about on ZevN47's thread about having engines in the front, otherwise how do the ships in all the sci-fi movies/shows/games work if they only have engines in the back! There would be no way to stop ;p See people like the reverse afterburner! Kewl ideas!

If you guys watch closely the videos so far you'll see the ships have engines at the: back, front, both sides and up & down

I did my best to make sure I did not copy anything in the disposable items thread, but I might have missed something.

New Ideas:

Deep Bomb (Best name I could think of) - Has its own drill. When deployed into an asteroid, it drills its way to the center in a very small hole. Detonation would probably be manual, having it be tracked by a dot on your HUD, or on radar. Could be used to create a large hole in the center of an asteroid, for a hidden base, or to destroy an enemy base in the center.

Holographic Disguise - Far cheaper than a cloaking device, it basically makes you look like a rock to everyone else. Detectable on radar.

Computer Virus - A sort of shockwave, that gives temporary control over all nearby enemy bots for a limited amount of time, maybe permanent for a more expensive variation.

I believe what you see on the ship are thrusters, which could be considered very weak engines. I'm not sure thrusters would have the power output to include afterburners. Just on observation...

Sorry muggs, I'll drop it, I just seen it comming after I read the post :P

The holographic idea is pretty neat as well :)

Everyone's favorite: MISSILES!

Teleportation Missiles - Missiles with a small-medium payload (smaller payload = longer teleport), but when launched, they immediatly teleport to about 10-500 voxels around their target, depending on how far away the launch was. Very expensive, use for 1 sector.

Thunder Missile - Large missile launched, non guided, usually only 1 or 2 for ammo. It does not hit anything, if it does it will bounce off. Its attack is that it sends an electric shock out to any nearby enemy targets. Very expensive.

Cloaker Missile - A missile with a built in cloaking device. Cloaking device lasts for X time, the missile can be seen on radar even when cloaked. Moderate price.

Anchor Missile - Small, non damaging missile, it sticks to the target, slowing it down until the ship gets repaired to remove it. (change for temporary or other way of removal).Cheap

OTHER IDEAS:

Teleportation Disc - Launches a disc from your ship that travels through space at a pretty fast speed, faster than any ship. When you 'detonate' the device, you and your ship teleport to its location and it will vanish when you take its place. Moderate-expensive price.

Light Bending Stealth System - Cloaking device that bends light, makes sort of a distortion. Detectable on radar?, lock on-able? Moderate price.

Light Absorption Stealth System) - Cloaking device that completely absorbs all surrounding light, making the ship appear black, like space without stars and dust. Unlockonable, undetectable on radar. Expensive.

Ricochet Rounds - Ammunition or other weapon that ricochets off of debris and asteroid until it dissapates (after 5-10 seconds) or if it hits a target, friend or foe.

Hello Atomic,

I like your ideas. They are very original. I have put them all in my idea sheet and we will go over them when the time will come. But they are really original so please keep writing :)

Thank you Marek.

Continuing...

Superweapon -

Matter Bomb - Very powerful weapon. Set like a time bomb, when in detonates, any matter within its blast radius will cause another explosion, and any matter within those blast radiuses causes another explosion, and so on. Only carriable by large mining ships/cargo ships. Extremely expensive. For balance issues (so it isnt entirely overpowered) it should be limited to 1 sector and maybe have a maximum amount of explosions allowed. As soon as one is set, there will probably be a scramble to leave the sector, then a scramble to retake it after the explosions. Can be stopped by having too much vacuum (outer space itself) inbetween matter, or by an EMP or other capable tool/weapon. Can be recovered if it is disarmed, but not deployed again until it is repaired. (just so the user doesn't get all his hard earned money wasted on one failed bomb)

Interfering with the Solar Wind -

Anti Solar Wind Shield - Deployed like a shield generator. It has the same effect on solar wind as asteroids do, creating a hole in it. Could just be a wall shield to hide behind, or a bubble to go inside. Lasts for 1 minute.

Solar Wind Deflector - Deflects solar wind that hits it in the direction it is facing. Could be used to clear out an asteroid tunnel of bots or enemies, or to create a distraction.

Other things -

Directed Mineral Sapper (bot?) - Type in what mineral you want it directed at, and it will (go to?) destroy the mineral, wherever it is, even in cargo or unharvested. Usage for crippling enemy shipments without destroying them, trading with others then ripping them off by sapping their new minerals.

"Vampire" Beam-Repair System - Directed beam weapon, which takes metal and other materials, melts them, and shapes them to repair your hull. (Requires nanites to work?) Can be used on enemy ships, causing damage to them, and on debris or minerals used in hulls.

Illusion Device - Creates a complete copy of your ship, undiscernable from the original. When it is used, it puffs a big ball of smoke where your ship is, and when it clears, there are now 2 identical ships. The illusion ship will mirror your movements, say if you go right it goes left, if you go up it goes down. Lasts for 30 seconds - 1 minute. Could be upgradeable or have a better variation to create more than 1 illusion. Science to explain it could be..... a drone deployed with a hologram device that self destructs or something that creates light in the form of your ship? Illusion does make a dot on radar, so bot might be more logical.

Hallucination Darts - Darts shot from your ship. Must hit enemies oxygen supply or cockpit windshield to be effective. Will take 10 seconds longer to work if they hit oxygen supply. To you, nothing happens once they hit successfully and work. To the victim, he begins to see a hundred ships attacking him at once, his ship shaking, his windshield cracking, he can still see the real world stuff, but there are a lot of hallucinations. Wears off after 5-20 seconds.

i cant believe no one thought of this,

CLUSTER BOMB- fire one rocket and it breaks into several as it flies unguided towards an asteroid. best for surface mines, of dogfights when you aren't accurate enough to hit them with just one. *note this is a real bomb that modern day militarilys have and use* so i think it'll be there in the future.

Well if we are using current weapons....

Fuel Air Bomb - When detonated, explodes into a cloud of fuel that spreads out. Shortly after that, the cloud of fuel ignites, burning anything within it.

Napalm - Jelly-powderish stuff that sticks to walls. When ignited, it makes a huge flame that doesn't go out, even in water. You decide how long it lasts.

Good ideas...

That vampire system sounds very familiar to a real technology where they use a morphing metal controlled by electricity to reshape wings on planes so they can change the aerodynamics for different uses while in flight.

Emergency Tow Bot - Deployable bot. If your engines get knocked out, and you have no nanites or allies nearby, deploy the bot and it will tow you to the nearest friendly base ship. Lightweight, cheaper than nanites?

Diversion Bot - Bot with no weapon or equipment. It has very heavy armor for a bot, and draws fire from turrets and other bots. Cheap.

Suicide Bot - Bot that suicide bombs the nearest enemy.

Well i got a bot idea

A deflector bot it is very quick and it's purpose is to guard your ship angainst missles and debris by floating around your ship and moving in the way of of said harmful things.

This might sound a lil strange, but I like instruments (tools, radars, sensors, objects) that make sounds like clicking, pressurizing, decompressing, hydraulics, popping, metal stretching, powered doors opening and shutting, landing gear coming out... stuff like like that.

Y'know , but that's a whole lotta resources to be cramming into the game. All that can wait. Right now I just wanna blow chit up.

Thread revival:

Grapple - Like an upgraded version of the tether, it has a reel in and out feature.

Stasis Field Generator - Not sure if tech level in game is good enough for it, but a sort of time distortion. Any bullets, missiles, debris, ships, etc... that entered the field would be slowed down in time to everyone, including other players in and out of the field. Uses a lot of energy, and is expensive.

the stasis field would be simple, just put everything within x field into a slower top speed, lower sensitivity and exclude the player

And another idea:

Jammer - Creates an aura around the user. Missiles will lose guidance, triggered weapons like mines cannot trigger, people cannot communicate in the field, and bots will deactivate and drift in space in the field. Upgradeable to have a larger area of effect.

EDIT: A couple months later, I just realized this was in muggsbud's disposable objects thread.

This is the Bunker Buster. It's like the Deep Bomb idea, except it doesn't drill, it just smashes it's way through rock and concrete.

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/877471/bunker_buster/

These types of bombs used to be called Earthquake Bombs in WW2.
